Comments The first type of button used (Pattern 1) had bowmen supporters, which were granted to the city in 1898; these were eventually considered unsatisfactory, being replaced with stag supporters in 1908 (Pattern 2).
The corporation department responsible for operating the trams was re-named 'Nottingham Corporation Passenger Transport' in 1929, and once again, on the demise of the trams, to 'Nottingham City Transport'. Whilst these two dates embrace a seven-year period, the fact that numerous chrome 'Tramway' cap badges have survived — a material which did not come into common usage for badges until the first half of the 1930s (at the earliest) — tentatively suggests that tramwaymen continued to be issued with uniforms bearing 'Tramway' insignia.
