Comments The D&BSTCo and the B&PSTCo were closely related, but for the entire existence of the latter, were kept as separate entities. The precise working arrangements are obscure, especially in the early days, with histories of the line suggesting that stock was 'borrowed' from the D&BSTCo. Quite what this entailed is unclear, but I suspect that in reality, the line was always worked by the D&BSTCo, whatever legal niceties may or may not have been observed. Therefore, although I have stated that the D&B operated the line under lease, it is currently unclear what the precise nature of the operational agreement was. Staff were therefore almost certainly provided by the D&BSTCo, whose conductors certainly wore uniforms (see link); however, marked buttons are yet to come to light, suggesting that they were either plain, or that they bore a monogram or initials of soem description.
